Bill Maher’s blog post concerning his own puzzlement about the outpouring of love and respect for Stan Lee’s passing was rude and ignorant but frankly I’m not interested in spending a podcast publicly spanking him.
Consider the ratio of noteworthy influencers and all of us fans who expressed their grief and understand Stan’s Important role in pop culture.
Who cares if a smug Bill doesn’t get it? He’s getting properly shit on at social media platforms, and like most social issues we’re not going to change his uninformed mind.
My only “beef” and I have the same problem with Mark Maron is these guys shit on superhero films, yet will still accept the offer to do cameos or bigger roles in them? Hypocrites.
Adam Carols is another disappointment who loves the big dumb action movies like The Fast And Furious (so do I) but thinks comic book films are worthless. Yet, again he’d show up at San Diego at The Top Cow booth and pay lip service to Matt Hawkins and feign interest on what Top Cow does.
To me it’s like people who don’t “get” jazz . Fine you don’t understand it, just don’t be an asshole about it.
Stan got plenty of honorable good feelings and respect for his passing and legacy. We can all handle one douchy person’s ignorance.
